Open Call – Gedeelde Gronden / Shared Spaces

Over het project

Gedeelde Gronden is een kunstproject waarin mensen uit de buurt samen kunst maken. Het project wordt uitgevoerd met lokale organisaties Welkom in Den Bosch en Buddy to Buddy Breda. Jonge professionele kunstenaars werken samen met nieuwkomers en buurtbewoners aan kunstprojecten in hun eigen wijk.

De kunstwerken worden gepresenteerd op plekken die je normaal niet als tentoonstellingsruimte ziet, zoals voortuinen, balkons, vensterbanken en andere zichtbare plekken in de buurt. Zo veranderen alledaagse plekken tijdelijk in plekken voor kunst, ontmoeting en gesprek over wat ‘thuis’ betekent.

Gedeelde Gronden vindt plaats in Breda en ’s-Hertogenbosch. In elke stad werkt een kunstenaar twee maanden lang samen met bewoners aan een kunstproject dat past bij de wijk. Daarnaast zijn er Cultours: gezamenlijke bezoeken aan musea, kunstinstellingen en ateliers, afgesloten met samen eten.

Het project wordt afgesloten in het najaar van 2027 met een grote gezamenlijke eindpresentatie.

Opdracht aan de kunstenaar

Geselecteerde kunstenaars ontwikkelen samen met nieuwkomers en buurtbewoners een kunstproject in de wijk. Je werkt met deelnemers, je maakt geen werk over hen. De vorm is vrij: van beeldend werk en installatie tot performance of tijdelijke interventies in de openbare of semi-openbare ruimte.

De werkperiode wordt afgesloten met een publieke presentatie in de wijk, ondersteund door KOP in communicatie, opbouw en publiekswerking.

We zijn op zoek naar kunstenaars voor 2026 en 2027. We zoeken kunstenaars die geïnteresseerd zijn in participatief werken en de wens hebben om zich hier verder in te ontwikkelen.

About the Project

Shared Spaces is a community-based art project that brings people from the neighborhood together to create art. The project is developed in collaboration with local partner organizations Welkom in Den Bosch and Buddy to Buddy Breda. Emerging professional artists work closely with newcomers and local residents to create art projects rooted in their own neighborhoods.

The resulting works are presented in places not usually considered exhibition spaces—such as front gardens, balconies, windowsills, and other visible spots throughout the neighborhood. In this way, everyday environments temporarily become sites for art, connection, and conversation about what “home” means.

Shared Spaces takes place in Breda and ’s-Hertogenbosch. In each city, one artist works with residents over a two-month period to develop a site-specific project that responds to the neighborhood. The program also includes Cultours: group visits to museums, art institutions, and artists’ studios, each followed by a shared meal.

The project will conclude in autumn 2027 with a big final presentation.

Artist Call

Selected artists will develop a participatory art project together with newcomers and local residents. The focus is on working with participants, not making work about them. The format is open and can range from visual art and installations to performance or temporary interventions in public or semi-public space.

The working period will conclude with a public presentation in the neighborhood, with support from KOP in communication, production, and audience engagement.

We are currently seeking artists for 2026 and 2027. We welcome artists who are interested in participatory practices and who wish to further develop their skills and experience in this field.
